Romantic Comedies:
- Desperate Housewives (Seasons 1-8): A group of seemingly happy women residing in Wisteria Lane go about their daily lives while battling hard kept secrets – domestic struggles, marital discord, murders & mysteries galore. Starring an ensemble star cast Teri Hatcher as Susan Mayer, Felicity Huffman as Lynette Scavo, Marcia Cross as Bree Van de Kamp, and Eva Longoria as Gabrielle Solis, the series went on to win accolades at award ceremonies. Spanning 15 years of the lady brigade’s lives told through eight seasons, we recommend adding this one to your watch list for your daily comedy intake!
- Bridesmaids: This modern-day comedy will have you on the floor rolling! Annie’s (Kristen Wiig) life is a complete mess – broke, lonely, and lost until she’s chosen to be the maid of honour for her best friend’s wedding. Together with a group of bridesmaids (Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Ellie Kemper), Annie leads everyone on a wild ride of nuptials and rituals!
- 10 things I Hate About You: A new spin to the Shakespearean tale The Taming of the Shrew, this twisted love story is got to find its way to your TVs! And you get to watch the dazzling Heath Ledger on screen! Starring Heath Ledger, Julia Stiles, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Larisa Oleynik, a young Cameron cannot date Bianca unless her anti-social sister Kat finds a match. At his friend’s advice, he plays a mysterious outsider/ pretty boy Patrick to take Kat out on a date. Watch to know what happens next!
Classic Comedies:
- Two and a Half Men (Seasons 1-12): Charlie and Alan are diametrically opposite except for the common dislike they share for their dominating mother. Alan is a neat freak chiropractor who is thrown out of his house by his cold and calculative wife. While Charlie on the other hand is a free-spirited and carefree bachelor living life king size in his luxurious Malibu beach house. Now on the road with nowhere to go, Alan eventually moves in with Charlie along with his food-obsessed lazy kid. The sitcom revolves around their conflicting lifestyle and the upbringing of Jake, with an efficient caring dad on one side and the dream sugar uncle on the other. While the first half of the show was dominated by the charming Charlie Sheen’s presence the second half is taken over by funnyman Ashton Kutcher. Two adults. One kid. No grown-ups.
- Everybody Loves Raymond (Seasons 1-9): Celebrated sportswriter Ray Barone has it all. A loving wife, a beautiful home in Long Island, an illustrious career, but there’s only one problem that gets in the way of his perfect life. His annoyingly nagging parents who live across the road and his jealous brother who can never seem to be happy for Ray. Starring ace comedian Roy Ramona who also executive produced the show alongside David Letterman, this long-running series made Roy a household name!
- Frasier (Seasons 1-11): Dr. Frasier Winslow Crane is a fictional character on the American television sitcoms Cheers and Frasier, portrayed by Kelsey Grammer. The character debuted in the Cheers third season premiere as Diane Chambers’s love interest followed by having his very own spin-off show Frasier. Dr. Frasier Crane, a successful Boston therapist, moves to Seattle to get a new start on life. He has a radio talk show, which he uses to relay his wit and wisdom to others, but at times he struggles with his problems with his salty father, his pretentious brother, and his friends and co-workers. Laughter is the best therapy, no doubt!
Workplace Comedies:
- The Office (Seasons 1-9): Starring Steve Carell and John Krasinski amongst others, a remarkable and situational comedy, The Office is a mockumentary sitcom on the typical day of an office employee in Scranton, Pennsylvania, branch of the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. If you’ve hated your boss or office, you’ll love this one!
- 30 Rock (Seasons 1-7): Starring Tracy Morgan and Alec Baldwin, Liz Lemon, head writer of the sketch comedy show “TGS with Tracy Jordan”, must deal with an arrogant new boss and a crazy new star, all while trying to run a successful television show without losing her mind.
Dark Comedies:
- Fargo Season 4: Fargo creator Noah Hawley brought a unique anthology of stories to the screen, inspired by the Coen Brother’s films, and based in the fictional town of Fargo, North Minnesota. Season 4 takes you through Kansas City’s lanes in the 1950s when war was brewing between the African American gangs and the Italian mafia. The ensemble cast includes comedian Chris Rock as Loy Cannon who leads the migrants fleeing the Jim Crow South, and Jason Shwartzman as Josto Fadda, the leader of the Italian mafia.
- Deadly Class Season 1: Survival is extra credit for sure! A coming-of-age story set against the backdrop of late 1980s counterculture, which follows a disillusioned teen recruited into a high school for assassins.
- BlacKkKlansman: Directed by Spike Lee, this Oscar-winning film must find its way to your binge-list! Colorado Springs Police Department recruits its first African-American detective Ron Stallworth and the rookie cop is sadly put to desk duties on his first day of work. Ambitious and determined to prove himself, Ron sets out to infiltrate the menacing Ku Klux Klan by joining forces with his colleague Flip Zimmerman in an undercover investigation of a lifetime! Starring John David Washington and Adam Driver, follow the outrageous, extraordinary, and true story of Ron Stallworth.
