How about a comedy for movie night this week? Here are four hilarious teen movies that you can’t miss:
Superbad
Seth (Jonah Hill) and Evan (Michael Cera), along with their nerdy friend Fogell (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) are high school students trying to fit in and gain real-world experiences. They score a party invitation and spend a day trying to gather alcohol while dreaming about how to get much closer with two girls. These rites of passage are complicated, of course, especially when a pair of inept cops gets involved.
Funniest moment: One of the highlights of Superbad has to be an alcohol-buying scene, although it is a toss-up between Seth and Fogell’s different attempts. Both feature realistic dialogue that feels extremely familiar, with witty humor and sight gags that take things over the top.
Easy A
Emma Stone is perfect in the role of Olive, a wry high school student who decides to manipulate the gossip train to gain attention. Hilarity builds in Easy A as Olive decides how to start a rumor about herself and things get completely out of hand.
Funniest moment: Although the way Olive starts her rumor is hilarious, one of the funniest scenes is when she receives a musical card from her grandparents. The tune is “Pocketful of Sunshine,” and Olive’s initial disgust stretches into a weekend full of singing along, dancing, and incessantly repeating it.
Mean Girls
Simply put, Mean Girls is an absolute must-see. Released back in 2004, it is just as relevant and relatable today as it was then. Plus, the number of quotable moments is through the roof. Experience all the drama of a typical high school as one outsider tries to fit in.
Funniest moment: This movie is full of entertaining scenes, which makes it nearly impossible to choose just one. Still, the montage scene where a bunch of teenagers describe what they know about Regina George is full of hilarious moments and unforgettable quotes.
Freaky Friday
Tess Coleman (Jamie Lee Curtis) and her daughter Anna (Lindsay Lohan) find it impossible to understand one another until they are forced to live the other’s life. A magical fortune causes them to switch bodies overnight, and they must navigate work, school, and relationships without completely wrecking everything.
Funniest moment: Tass and Anna perfectly encapsulate one another in their swapped roles, perfectly capturing what it is to be a stressed out mother and a hormonal teenager. One of the funniest scenes is the montage of therapy visits that Anna has to navigate while trying act like Tess. Start streaming Freaky Friday today!
