What’s NEW on STARZPLAY’s February Binge-Fest?

Riding high on the heels of success, STARZPLAY has begun the year with successful innings after innings.   • The Salisbury Poisonings: The Salisbury Poisonings is a three-part fact-based television drama, starring Anne-Marie Duff, Rafe Spall and Annabel Scholey which portrays the 2018 Novichok poisonings and decontamination crisis in Salisbury, England, and the subsequent Amesbury poisonings. On the fateful day of 4 March 2018, emergency services receive a call to attend to Sergei and Yulia Skripal who have been found unconscious on a park bench in Salisbury city centre. A national emergency is called for when it is learned that Skripal is a former Russian military intelligence officer who acted as a double agent for the UK’s intelligence services during the 1990s and early 2000s, and that he and his daughter were poisoned with a highly potent Novichok agent which was smeared on the front-door handle of their residence. The docudrama also deals with the incidental exposure of several other persons, including a police officer and an uninvolved couple who found a perfume bottle containing the nerve agent which they administered to themselves.

  • Ramy: Starring Golden Globe award winning actor Rammy Youssef, Ramy Hassan is a first-generation Egyptian-American who is on a spiritual journey in his politically divided New Jersey neighborhood.   • Fruits Basket: A reboot anime adaption of the manga of the same name by Natsuki Takaya. Based on the character of Tohru Honda whose life turns upside down when tragedy strikes her home. Forced to stay in a small tent, she finds herself living in with the soma clan – Yoki, Kyu and Shigori Soma until she learns of their bizarre secret. Every time she hugs anyone from the opposite gender, they turn into animals from the zodiac!

Movies

  • The Last Castle: A thrilling ride starringRobert Redford as General Irwin, an ex-general, is court-martialled and sent to a military prison. Irwin has to deal with the unjust behaviour of the warden guarding the place who even kills the prisoners if deemed necessary. Eventually he leads an army of prison inmates in a revolt against the warden who will resort to violence to prove his point.
